The Tao of Holy Orthodoxy refers to the first, authentic Christian Path. Sometimes called Eastern Orthodoxy, it is the Tao (that is, the Way) that has been passed down continuously for 2,000 years, generation to generation, within the Holy Orthodox Church.
The Orthodoxy Way existed before the rise of what may be called “Western Christianity.” When you think of Christianity in the United States and Europe, and also in China and the rest of East Asia, this Western Christianity, in one or more of its forms, probably comes to mind. Remember that the original Christian Way is rooted in the ancient East.
When we find the Tao of Holy Orthodoxy, we discover that it not only connects us with all those who have followed the Way since Christ taught His Twelve Disciples, but it brings us into that ancient stream of spirituality that extends back to the very beginning of human existence. As old as its root, the Way is just as relevant for how you and I live every day, wherever we live.
The Orthodox Way is the practical path of spiritual progress. It is the Way of the inner things and the harmonious outward actions that flows from the interior condition of the heart. It leads each of us toward fulfilling our potential and purpose in life.
My Tao of Holy Orthodoxy training covers many topics you might find in other sources on the Orthodox Way. In addition to the usual characteristics, you may also notice that I emphasize the benefit of learning from the creation around us and the relationship between spirituality and medicine. Additionally, my particular interest in teaching the Orthodox Way to people influenced by or interested in traditional Chinese culture (and other East Asian cultures) also shines through this course.
